California Strip Poker 1.18

California Strip Poker 1.18 is out and ready for download.  This release includes some big code changes and some new content.

  • Introducing EZ-Composites.  One ez-composite player image will be used by the game for vertical portraits, regular wide shots, and also wide and extra-wide shots with other ez-composite player images. EZ composites are similar to the existing EZ-renders, but use a transparent background instead of a pre-rendered one.  The game engine will handle layering the image on its own set of pre-rendered backgrounds.  The beach-location player outfits have been updated to have ez-composites, with the other locations to follow in future releases.
  • The game now supports WEBP images. These compress better than jpgs, and handle transparency like pngs. Most of the in-game assets have been converted over to webps, which has shrank the games zip file download to half its original size!    (The bedroom location has temporarily been left unchanged for troubleshooting purposes)
  • Added some missing pubic hair to Candy's beach set
  • Fixed the lighting on some of Leah's beach ez-renders.
  • Uploaded an updated render toolkit with the ez-composite set for the beach location
  • Bumped up the max memory on the executable a bit to reduce out-of-memory errors
  • Small updates to the README file instructions

Quick update since that seemed to cause some confusion:

The game has been updated to use all-webp images to reduce the download size, but jpgs and pngs still work fine, so all the extra content out there is still perfectly useable.

Additional feedback. Wide EZ composite seems to only show current active players. It will not show defeated players that got replaced with new player. Only time all 7 player will show after you win against all of them. UPDATE: Actually, I was wrong. You can see for example 5 players, but the 5th player would be cropped, and you will see maybe 20% of their body total.

The 5 player thing is a bug. But it works fine for 6, so keep adding players :)

And your bug-finding bounty is... you get to pick which location gets ezcomposites next!   Tavern, lounge, or bedroom?

Let lounge be the next!

candy_scene_C_composite0_playing.webp image is in 0000 folder, but set as "_playing", so it will never show.

Or is there any scenario when 0000 images that are tagged as "_playing" could shown?

Not really. I removed it. Thanks for finding that.

Still not tried it yet, but have downloaded it. I noticed that the file size dropped by half. So as my mega pack was even bigger in size that the original game file, I'll be converting all images to Webp and then redoing the pack to make it more manageable.

Also, I still have that request, that in case multiple characters compete for the same finale spot, that character that does not get to be there is moved to the background composite spot, if available, instead of being completely invisible if using finale.

I think the game really needs some button to toggle between composite images. Maybe clicking on player's status icon.

The main concern is that new EZ wide composite images rarely are shown organically, and there is no way to force neither standard composites nor EZ wide composites to show on a click of the button, like you can do with specific girl images.

After playing a bit more, during gameplay they do seem to show in decent amount (but no way to force them). But after winning the game, they look to be very rare occurrence.

If someone is in a finale, they are not going to be in the ezcomposites, or trigger them, so that's probably why.

Also note that the more ez-composites a player has, the more likely those are to pop up, so that should improve a bit over time since future sets will likely have a lot more of these.

Is it possible for you to share exact logic on how in next image decided?
Does it pick a girl first, and then pick an image for it (including any composites they can show). What decides if old composites, or new wide group composites, will be shown? Do they have independent chance to show, or are also tied to a girl? What about finales?
